Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park is located in the northwest corner of Montana along the spine of the Rocky Mountains.  Waterton Lakes National Park is located in Southern Alberta, just north of Montana's Glacier National Park.

By Plane

Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) near Kalispell, Montana is located 25/40 km miles west of the Park entrance in West Glacier, Montana.

• Delta Connection service operated by SkyWest. Airlines offers daily, non-stop flights through Salt Lake City and Minneapolis Seasonal Service through Atlanta.
• Alaska Airlines operated by Horizon Air offers daily service through Seattle.
• United Airlines offers daily service through Denver. Seasonal service through Chicago.
• Allegiant offers twice weekly, non-stop service to Las Vegas.

There are also airports in Great Falls, Montana (200 miles/322 km east of West Glacier), Missoula, Montana (156 miles/252 km south of West Glacier), Spokane, WA (300 miles/483 km west of West Glacier), and Calgary, Alberta (266 miles/429 km north of West  Glacier).  Car rentals are available at all airports.

Glacier Park International Airport, Kalispell, MT to Glacier National Park West Entrance (35 miles/56 km)
Exit the airport and turn left onto Rt. 2 East
Turn right at the light and stay on Rt. 2 East
Once you enter West Glacier, turn left and go under the overpass
Turn right at the stop sign onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road

By Train

Amtrak services both East Glacier and West Glacier. Glacier Park, Inc. provides a shuttle service at these locations. Please call us at 406.892.2525 for more information.

By Car

Visitors arriving by car will use U. S. Highway 2 to access the Park from either the east or west. Visitors can also access the Park from the north using Highways 89 or 17.

 
From Lake McDonald Lodge/Village Inn at Apgar:

• To Rising Sun via the Going-to-the-Sun Road (37 miles/59 km)

Turn left onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road
Rising Sun will be on the left
 

• To Rising Sun via Rt. 2 & Hwy. 89 (105 miles/169 km)

Turn right onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road and make a left at the stop sign heading out of the Park
Turn left onto Rt. 2 East
Follow Rt. 2 East for about 70 miles/113 km into Browning and turn left onto Rt. 89 North
Follow the road for 31 miles/50 km into the town of St. Mary and turn left onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road
Follow for 6 miles/10 km; Rising Sun will be on the right
 

• To Glacier Park Lodge via Rt. 2 (67 miles)

Make a right out of Lake McDonald Lodge onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road and make a left at the stop sign heading out of the Park
Turn left onto Rt. 2 East and follow to East Glacier
Turn left onto Hwy. 49 and go under the overpass
 

• To Many Glacier/Swiftcurrent via the-Sun Road (64 miles/103 km)

Turn left out of Lake McDonald and continue on the Going-to-the-Sun Road to St. Mary
Make a left in St. Mary onto Rt. 89 North. Follow the signs to Many Glacier Hotel and turn left in Babb onto Many Glacier Road
Once you arrive at Many Glacier turn left or continue one mile for Swiftcurrent
 

• To Many Glacier/Swiftcurrent via Rt. 2/Duck Lake Road (120 miles/193 km)

Turn right onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road and make a left at the stop sign heading out of the Park
Turn left onto Rt. 2 East
Follow Rt. 2 East for about 70 miles/113 km into Browning and
turn right onto Rt. 89 South/Central Ave.
Turn left at the third light onto Rt. 464/Boundary Road
At the end of Duck Lake Road, turn right onto Rt. 89
Follow signs for Many Glacier Hotel and turn left in Babb onto Many Glacier Road
 
 

From Rising Sun Motor Inn:

• To Glacier Park Lodge via Duck Lake Rd.

Turn left onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road
Turn left in St. Mary onto Rt. 89 North
Go about 6 miles/10 km and turn right onto Rt. 464/Duck Lake Rd.
Turn right onto Rt. 89/Rt. 2 in Browning and stay left towards East Glacier
Turn right onto Hwy. 49 and go under the overpass

 

From Glacier Park Lodge:

• To Lake McDonald/Village Inn (67 miles)

Make a right onto Rt. 2 West
Once you enter West Glacier, turn right and go under the overpass
Turn right at the stop sign onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road
Turn left into Apgar Village or continue straight for 10 miles/16 km and Lake McDonald will be on your left
 

• To Rising Sun via Hwy 49/Looking Glass (37 miles)

Turn left out of Glacier Park Lodge onto Hwy. 49 (Looking Glass Highway)
At the Kiowa Junction, make a left onto Rt. 89 North
Follow Rt. 89 North until you reach the town of St. Mary
Turn left onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road and follow for 6 miles/10 km, Rising Sun will be on the right
 

• To Many Glacier/Swiftcurrent (54 miles)

Turn left out of Glacier Park Lodge onto Rt. 49 (Looking Glass Highway)
At the Kiowa Junction, make a left onto Rt. 89 North
Follow Rt. 89 North until you reach the town of Babb
Turn left onto Many Glacier Road
Once you arrive at Many Glacier turn left or continue one mile for Swiftcurrent
 
 
 

From Many Glacier Hotel/Swiftcurrent Motor Inn:

• To Rising Sun (27 miles)

Take Many Glacier Road and follow for 12 miles/19 km until you reach the town of Babb
Bear right onto Rt. 89 South
Follow for 8 miles/13 km and turn right onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road
Follow for 6 miles/10 km and Rising Sun will be on the right
 

• To Glacier Park Lodge via Rt. 89 (53 miles/85 km)

Take Rt. 89 South
Follow Rt. 89 until Kiowa Junction and bear right onto Hwy. 49 (Looking Glass Highway) OR
Continue straight on Rt. 89 into Browning and make a right onto Rt. 2 West
Glacier Park Lodge will be on the right
 

• To Lake McDonald Lodge/Village Inn

via Rt. 2/Duck Lake Rd. (120 miles/193 km)
Exit Many Glacier and bear right onto Rt. 89 South for 1mile
Turn left onto Rt. 464/Duck Lake Rd.
Turn right onto Rt. 2 West./Central Ave.
Follow signs for Rt. 2 West and turn left heading towards East Glacier
Continue on Rt. 2 West for 70 miles/113 km and make a right in West Glacier into the West Entrance of the Park. Make a right at the stop sign onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road
